Story Synopsis:

A recovering alcoholic, womanizing reporter (Clint Eastwood), who can't stay out of trouble with his bosses (mostly because he is sleeping with their wives), inherits a human interest story about a prisoner (Isaiah Washington), who is sentenced to die at midnight for the murder of a pregnant woman who owed him $96. However, the reporter immediately figures out that the key witness lied about what he saw and believes the prisoner is innocent. He then sets out to prove his belief in the final 12 hours of the prisoner's life. James Woods appears as Eastwood's Editor-in-Chief and the only man who still believes in his talents. Denis Leary is Eastwood's direct editor, who wants him fired for his direct belligerence and teh fact that he slept with Leary's wife.

From the flat number to the time on the clock to the TV channel number - the ‘13 jinx’ looms large over the film and its characters.The doomed victim is a civil engineer Manohar (Madhavan, perfectly cast) who lives with his family in a posh suburban Mumbai flat. A series of bizarre, sometimes near fatal incidents prompt Manohar to start questioning his luck. While the rest of his family members seem to be going from strength to strength after moving into flat no 13B, Manohar is facing quite the contrary. From something as basic as getting stuck in a lift and tea going bad to nearly losing a dear one, Manohar’s life turns in to a never-ending episode of bad luck. Quite like the twists and turns of a daily soap opera… Manohar soon discovers that his life is actually unfolding on the lines of a TV serial. The mysterious show plays on channel no 13 at 1300 hrs on the 13th floor of his building. At some level it’s a clever but scary satire on how seriously we tend to take the on screen lives of the TV actors. Manohar’s quest to dig deep into the root cause of this mystery forms the crux of the film.

"Straight" unfolds the story of a London-based Indian - Pinu (Vinay Pathak). He is the successful owner of "Gaylord", a restaurant located in central London. Simple though, he suffers from an inferiority complex. One of the main reasons behind this is the fact that he hasn't lost his virginity till date. He often finds himself laughed at, by the people. Being an introvert, he doesn't have any real friends and seeks friendship from his loving brother - Rajat (Siddhartha Makkar). Although he often lands himself in trouble because of Pinu, Rajat is fond of his brother, as he finds him very funny.Life becomes interesting for Pinu, when Kamlesh (Anuj Chaudari) and Renu (Gul Panag) enter his life. Kamlesh approaches Pinu to hire him as a stand-up comedian at the restaurant. After denying initially, Pinu appoints him as a cook at his restaurant, allowing him to perform his stand-up acts in the evening. Meanwhile, Renu is appointed as the cashier of the restaurant. Passionate about the art of caricature, she makes interesting caricatures for customers, increasing the popularity of the restaurant further. Life goes on smoothly and becomes more dramatic for Pinu, who gels with Kamlesh & Renu and even hangs out a bit with them, bringing about a change in his introvert personality.

Story Synopsis:

Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan), is a rich businessman who owns a cellular phone company named Air Voice. Kalpana (Asin Thottumkal), an advertisement model goes around telling her advertisement crew that she is the love interest of Sanjay, in spite of her having never met him and also goes to the extent of giving an interview about her relationship to a popular magazine. Kalpana eventually falls in love with him.Once, while on a train to Mumbai, Kalpana saves a group of young girls from abuse by a group of goons led by Lakshman (Pradeep Rawat). After a few days, the same goons come to Kalpana's house in order to avenge their embarrassment. Incidentally, Sanjay arrives at the scene and fights off the goons, but during the ensuing fight, Kalpana is murdered. The irony showcased is that Kalpana never finds out that he is Sanjay. Lakshman then strikes the downcast Sanjay on his head severely with a metal rod. Sanjay survives the blow, but acquires anterograde amnesia because of the trauma of his brain injury. At any given time, he does not remember anything that happened more than 15 minutes back, although he frequently has flashbacks of Kalpana's murder. He determines to take revenge on those responsible for Kalpana's death. The rest of the story is about how Sanjay, along with a medical college student Sunita (Jiah Khan), goes about finding Lakshman and the goons.
